Press Release: The Geekiest Sports Event in Canada!!!!

Moncton, NB - Thursday, April 19th
at 18:00 hrs the puck will drop on centre ice of the Moncton 4-Plex, commencing the 2007 GEEKS ON ICE Hockey Tournament.

Techies from across Atlantic Canada will abandon their computers, don their blades and gather in Moncton NB to promote health and wellness, network and raise some serious funds in partnership with the United Way of Greater Moncton and Southeastern NB Region.

“Our goal is to raise $6000.00 for the United Way to purchase computer equipment and software for non-profit charitable agencies throughout SENB,” beamed Trevor MacAusland committee Co-Chair for the 2007 Hockey event, “and I am confident that our group can shatter that benchmark!” In order for everyone to embrace their ‘Inner Geek’, there will be a GeekFest on Saturday Night, April 21st from 8 – 12 p.m. for people to participate without the skates! Dooly’s on Main Street will host the evening complete with billiards, Hockey Night in Canada, good times and prizes. Geeks of all kinds, players, organizers, supporters, IT professionals and Hockey Fans are invited.

The Great Geek Raffle:

2 tickets to the Faith Hill and Tim McGraw Country Rocks the Hill Concert, September 1st, 2007
along with other fabulous prizes generously donated from local businesses and supporters.


Raffle tickets may be purchased before hand through the United Way office at (506) 858-8600 or office@moncton.unitedway.ca and will be sold during the tournament at the Moncton 4-Plex. Price: 1 for $2 or 3 for $5.
